Bennie Griffin Brown, 66, passed away August 2, 2020 with his faithful canine companion, Tanner.  He was born in Nansemond County, VA the son of the late Frank Lilton Brown, Sr. and Thelma Lee Griffin Brown.  Bennie retired as a school teacher having taught at Nansemond Suffolk Academy and Isle of Wight Academy.  He was a member of Windsor Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee.  He was a former member of the Lion's Club and actively served in his school community especially during baseball season.  He formerly served on Windsor's Zoning and Planning Commission.

Bennie is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank L. Brown, Jr. (Barbara), and William Earle Brown (Judy); nieces and nephews, Michael Brown (Jeanie), Debi Wagner (Buddy), Gary Todd Brown (Terri), Cynthia Robertson (Troy); numerous great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Windsor Cemetery with Rev. John Corson officiating.  The family requests that you please wear a mask and adhere to social distancing standards for the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windsor Baptist Church or the Suffolk Humane Society.  Parr Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com .
