Benjamin "Benji" Cutchins Ellis III, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2025, in his hometown of Suffolk, Virginia.

Ben was a devoted husband, proud family man, and loyal friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Peggy; his bonus children, Susan McFatter (and her partner Michael) and Michael McFatter (and his partner Rhonda); and his cherished granddaughter, Lauren Liverman (and her partner Denny). He was a proud great-grandfather to Carter and Brooklynn, who lovingly called him "Banjo." He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Babb; his nephews, James Turner (and his wife Julie) and Michael Westnedge Jr.; and his niece, Kristie Anderson, along with her children, Emma and Ryan Joyner.

For over 30 years, Ben owned and operated a successful janitorial business, taking pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way. Away from work, he found joy on the golf course and was a lifelong, passionate fan of the New York Yankees. Ben was also a proud member of the Suffolk Lions Club. Ben will be remembered for his sharp wit, calming presence, and unwavering love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the American Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the members of Suffolk Fire Department Station 1 and the staff of Trinity Hospice for their care and compassion.
