Barbara Reardon Duval, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, in Windsor, Virginia, at the age of 95. Born on July 19, 1931, in Buies Creek, North Carolina, she was the cherished daughter of the late Willie and Laura Reardon. 

Barbara dedicated her life to her family and community. She retired from the Portsmouth Health Department after many years of devoted service.

 Her nurturing spirit shone brightly as she lovingly raised her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating a legacy of love and warmth that will endure through the generations. An avid quilter, Barbara was a proud member of the local quilter's guild, where she shared her passion for quilting with many dear friends. She enjoyed sewing, painting, and cooking, always infusing her creativity and love into everything she did. Her home was filled with beautiful handmade quilts and the delicious aromas of her culinary creations. 

Barbara was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where she formerly served as an Elder. Her faith and dedication to her church community were central to her life. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Laura Reardon, and her siblings, Douglas Reardon, Betty Carrier, and Emma Crimm. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Harry Carlton Duval; her loving daughters, Brenda Gail Gooch and Dawn Elizabeth Newsome; her treasured grandchildren, Allison Allred (Nate), Evan Newsome, and Katheryn Roberts (Shawn); and her adored great-grandchildren, Everett, Parker, Madison, and Bryson. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Sandy Krause (Rick), and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Presbyterian Church, located at 5358 Zuni Cir, Zuni, VA 23898, with Rev. Pete Atkinson officiating. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church.
