Cocco Jr.
January 4, 1954 – May 9, 2023
Armand "Andy" Francis Cocco JR , age 69, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of 5/9/23 in his home after a long battle with Lewy Body dementia. He was born and raised in Newark, Delaware and He served in the United States Army and then became a pipefitter at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, after the injury early into his career he enjoyed becoming what he often joked as the "housewife", he later became a certified nursing aide and medication aide and worked in several assisted living facilities. Armand was an avid model builder and enjoyed making stained glass pieces over the last several years with his wife Nancy. He was very proud of all the different pieces they made together. He spent the last decade helping provide care to his grandchildren which he thoroughly loved. Also known as their "Pappy" he took great pride in being able to share his goody bag with them.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Melton Miller Cocco of 17 years, five daughters, Andrea Jordan, Amanda Cocco Cottman. Lisa Henderson (JD), Mary Anne Berry (Adam), Allison Cocco. He is survived by his brother John Cocco, and numerous nieces and nephews. 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his second wife, Donna Cocco, his mother, Anna Zebley Cocco, father Armand Francis Cocco Sr., and sister Constance Cocco Brooks.
Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice in Roanoke rapids for their care provided to Andy during his final days. The care and compassion was impeccable. Special thanks to Conway Baptist Church who donated a temporary ramp until one could be built. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in attention to Conway Baptist Church Ramp Building Group and sent to Conway Baptist Church Brotherhood PO Box 160 Conway NC 27820. This contribution was instrumental in allowing him to remain at home and respect his final wishes. In honor of Andy and him being an avid Eagles fan his entire life, the family is requesting that you wear Eagles memorabilia or wear dark green to honor his memory.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com .
