Archie John Chatman, Sr., 81, of Suffolk passed away on October 4, 2009. A native of Portsmouth, VA he was the son of James Edward Chatman and Helen Montgomery Chatman. He was also preceased by a son, Edward Chatman and a daughter, Helen Chatman. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Archie retired as a draftsman for M.A.B.S.T.O.A. He was a member of St. Benedict the Moor Church.

Archie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathryn C. Griffin Chatman; daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Gilbert Broome of Suffolk and Marie Chandler, all of Suffolk; sons and daughters-in-law, Archie Chatman, Jr. of NY, John and Louise Chatman of CA and Arnetta Chatman; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
