Ann Worrell Phelps passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026 at the age of 95.  Born on July 7, 1930, Ann lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her family, her faith, and her friends.

Ann retired after more than 30 years of service as the sheriff's secretary and a dispatcher for the Isle of Wight Couty Sheriff's department.

A woman of many talents, Ann found joy in cooking, especially during the Christmas season when she made all kinds of cookies and candy.  When she was younger she enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes.

Ann was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women group.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert H. Holland, mother, Bessie Mae Holland, her husbands, Elvin B. Worrell and Douglas I. Phelps; her brother, James H. Holland; her sister, Anna Mae Williams; and her brothers, Edward Griffin, Willie J. Griffin, and Richard Holland.

Ann leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory; her daughter, Vickie Worrell; her son, Ronnie Worrell and his wife Margaret; her stepdaughter, Lynnette Fortner; her stepson, Terry Phelps; and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren who will remember her fondly.

A graveside service will be held at Holly Lawn Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, with Rev. Robert Cofield officiating.

Ann will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.
