Alton "Nat" Nathaniel Blanton, 67, passed away December 3, 2014. He was born in Heflin, Alabama the son of the late Grady L. and Laura J. Blanton. He was a United States Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. He later went on to work as a conductor for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired after 43 years. He was a good husband, father, provider, and friend.
Nat is survived by his wife of 44 years, Penny R. Blanton; daughter, Tracy Lynn Blanton and husband, Brad Weckbacher; grandson, Trey Weckbacher; sisters, Dot Ray, Gail Clark; brother, Bryan Blanton; numerous nieces and nephews; special nephew, Allen Blanton; and faithful companion, Bella.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Todd Ellis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday afternoon from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
