Alfred Lee Gibbs, 90, passed away December 4, 2022.  He was born in Swan Quarter, NC the son of the late Latham Gibbs and Mary Armstrong Gibbs.  He was predeceased by his six siblings.  Alfred was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.  He later went on to work for 35 years at Old Dominion Freightline and after retirement went on to work at BECO Construction for 25 years.  Alfred was a Southern Baptist and loved the Lord.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Dawson Gibbs; daughters, Alfreda Fleming and Mary Leigh Howell (Frank); grandchildren, Crystal (John), Shannon (Mark), Lauren (Paul), and Ashley; great grandchildren, Christopher, Carson, Aiden, and Raelyn; sister, Dianthia Sawyer; brother, Bradley Gibbs (Judy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service with military honors will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Art Stafford officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306, in support of wounded veterans.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
