Albert Louis Gates, Jr., 74, passed away September 10, 2020.  He was born in Schenectady, NY the son of the late Albert Louis Gates, Sr. and Grace Caroline Dufel Gates.  He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Ellen Kingsbury Gates; and his son, David Gates.  Albert retired as an Electrician's Mate Senior Chief from the United States Navy.  During that time, he served in Vietnam.  He later went on to work and retire again after 20 years as a contractor from the Army Corp of Engineers.  He attended Open Door Church in Suffolk, VA.

Albert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and David Foreman; grandchildren, Samantha and Gill Thomas, Mary and Logan Taylor, James Foreman, and Sarah Foreman; great grandchildren, Gabriel and Freya; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Open Door Church, 816 Kings Fork Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434 with Pastor Tony Peaks officiating.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
